Having grown up in "America's Hometown", Plymouth, Massachusetts, I have a strong appreciation of history and historic preservation. My mother and her family are Pilgrim descendants and I am a first-generation American on my father's side of the family. Appreciation of history was a strong aspect of my upbringing.
After finishing high school and business school, I lived in Boston for several years and during that time I began to notice the history of America's Hometown being dismantled. Piece by piece centuries old buildings were virtually "bulldozed" and replaced with fast food outlets, gift shops, motels and parking lots. I, therefore, became interested in trying to restore the only non-residential historic building left in Cheshire. Its original purpose as a center for entertainment, community activities and basic community gatherings could be a real benefit to the community.
